Grand Chief Daniels brings over a decade of proven leadership as the elected Grand Chief of the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO), representing 32 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 87,000 citizens across southern Manitoba. His deep understanding of governance, infrastructure development, and partnership-building makes him an invaluable leader in Feather Pharma’s mission to deliver high-quality, affordable medicines while advancing economic reconciliation in Canada.

A Leader Rooted in Community

Born in the Long Plain First Nation and raised by his grandparents, Isabel and Donald Daniels, Jerry Daniels was shaped by the values of kinship, cultural identity, and service. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Manitoba and has been a vocal advocate for Indigenous rights, environmental stewardship, and self-determination.

In 2023, Grand Chief Daniels’ mother, Yellow Feather Daniels, passed away from complications related to diabetes. Her life and legacy continue to inspire a mission rooted in health equity, culturally respectful care, and making life-saving medications accessible to Indigenous communities and beyond.

Vision & Achievements

Nation-Building & Healthcare Innovation

  • Progress toward the Southern First Nations Health Authority, delivering culturally relevant, community-led healthcare.
  • Child welfare reform that prioritizes family unity and Indigenous governance.

Infrastructure & Economic Development

  • Led the Wehwehneh Bahgahkinahgohn project – transforming the historic Hudson’s Bay Company building into 350+ affordable housing units, a museum, and a cultural hub.
  • Partnered on the development of a 12-story Healthcare Centre of Excellence in Winnipeg.

Youth & Workforce Empowerment

  • Created an SCO Youth Council and launched scholarship programs for First Nation students.
  • Ensured over 80% of SCO staff are First Nation citizens.

Resilience & Transparency

  • In 2024, Daniels openly addressed personal challenges, reaffirming his commitment to service and accountability. His willingness to lead with honesty mirrors Feather Pharma’s values of integrity and continuous improvement.
